Do British People Need to Get in the Bedroom More?

Well the actual headline is that we’re having less sex and it may not be a bad thing… but we interpret that as we need to be getting more anyway! A large national survey has come to some interesting conclusions… Read more below.

British Medical Journal Findings

In this large scale study published in the British Medical Journal it is suggested that nearly one third of men and women have not had sex in the past month. This is up by around 5% from 2001 where the figures reported were approximately 25% – and a colossal sample of 34,000 people were surveyed.

In addition, less than half of men and women ages 16 – 44 reported having sex at least once a week.

The biggest falls in sexual activity were accounted for by those over 25, living together or married.

Lastly, the proportion reporting to have sex 10 times or more per month had fallen too – to just over 13% of respondents.

Reasons Cited

Potential reasons cited for the drop include;

The sheer stress of modern life – between juggling kids, careers, responsibilities and social pressures… it’s no wonder we make less and less time to have sex.

Social media – instead of each other, it’s possible we’re more engrossed in our phones!

Recession – or… you can always blame the economy!

Conclusion

It’s not always a bad thing to be having less sex. Whether you enjoy it, it matters to you and it makes you feel connected with your partner – most people think they are having less than others, but it really doesn’t matter!
